How X engagement rate works

X engagement rate is (likes + replies + reposts + bookmarks) ÷ impressions × 100. X rates run lower than LinkedIn — a strong post on X often sits in the 1–3% range, while exceptional posts exceed 5%. Bookmark rate is a useful signal on its own: high bookmarks with low likes means people are saving your post to read later, a strong indicator for educational or listicle-style content.

Frequently asked questions

How is X engagement rate calculated?

The standard formula is total engagements divided by impressions, multiplied by 100. Engagements include likes, replies, reposts, and bookmarks — the calculator sums them all so you don't have to pull the numbers together yourself.

What is a good engagement rate on X?

There's no universal benchmark because impressions vary so much by audience size. As a rough guide, rates above 1% are decent for most accounts, and anything over 3% is strong. The calculator compares your result against typical ranges.

Should I count impressions or followers in the formula?

Impressions. Impressions are how many times your post was actually shown, which is the denominator most brands and sponsors use. Followers-based rates flatter accounts with big audiences and low reach, so they're less useful for comparison.

Why is my engagement rate higher on a small post?

Small posts get fewer impressions, so the same number of likes and replies produces a higher percentage. That's normal — it's why you should compare posts with similar reach rather than judging every post by one number.
